TO CALCULATE LCL FREIGHT CHARGE:

To calculate LCL ocean freight based on volume (CBM):

Formula:

Total Freight = Number of CBM x Freight

(e.g., USD 5.50 x 2.80 CBM = USD 15.40)

To calculate LCL ocean freight based on weight (Kg):

1 CBM equals 1 MT or 1000 Kgs.

Formula:

Total Freight = Number of Kg x Freight

(e.g., USD 5.50 x 2 MT = USD 15.40)

The international practice dictates using the higher of the two calculations, whether volume or weight, to determine the freight charge.

TO CALCULATE AIR FREIGHT CHARGE:

Given a box of books measuring 100x100x100 cm with a gross weight of 100 kgs, and a freight rate of USD 2.00 per kg:

To calculate air freight rates based on gross weight:

Formula:

Total Air freight rate = Freight Rate x Gross Weight

(e.g., USD 2.00/kg x 100 kgs = Total Air freight USD 200.00).

To calculate air freight rates based on volumetric:
1. Determine the volumetric weight by dividing the dimensions (Length x Width x Height) by a volumetric divisor (e.g., 6000).
For example, if the volumetric weight (VW) is determined to be 166.66 kg:

Formula:
Total Air freight rate = Freight Rate x Volumetric Weight (e.g., USD 2.00/kg x 166.66 kg = Total Air freight USD 333.32).

The international practice dictates using the higher of the two calculations, whether volume or weight, to determine the freight charge.
